ORRVILLE, Ohio, May 20, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- The J. M. Smucker Co. is recalling select Jif® peanut butter products sold in the U.S. due to potential Salmonella contamination. Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

Just picked up two jars of this PB. Already ate half of one jar and no ill effects. I wonder if JM Smuckers is NWO and recalling PB in order to get some food out of peoples pantries. What's next, cans of green beans, cheese, or frozen pizza? Remember, use common sense when reading news stories such as this one. I've eaten this brand of PB for the past year and haven't gotten sick. Also notice in the report there is never an explanation of how the salmonella got into the PB. I am not going to get rid of perfectly good food just because of a press release for a product that will not say how the contamination originated. But, do your own thing.
Now that I see a smuckers PB recall, I agree. This is deliberate to get nutritious shelf stable food out of our homes.
Peanut butter is a cheap protein. People that can't afford the current price of meat may be using peanut butter, instead.
