More people need to understand your last sentence. We have gotten into such a big mess because of this! It has just gotten worse because now people are so afraid to discuss openly even with family how they actually feel about things. So you have a bunch of people that for some reason feel they need permission to behave a certain way, but are deathly afraid of asking for it, and also don't realize they don't even need permission in the first place.
