Elon Musk: "Tesla is building a hardcore litigation department where we directly initiate & execute lawsuits. The team will report directly to me.... Looking fro hardware streetfighters, not white-shoe lawyers like Perkins or Cooley who thrive on corruption. There will be blood."

Watch some YouTubes on what/how and why the Tesla motors are doing so much better than Ford/GM/ Honda/ Toyota/Nio and everyone else. Not only are they doing better with batteries, their motor designs are more efficient, and radically different than anything made before.
Tesla has a whole bunch of Intellectual Property, that is currently BEING STOLEN from them, by engineers who come in for a job, copy the design files, and use the stolen info to negotiate a job with a competitor.
This is theft, pure and simple.
They're doing better because of all the government subsidizes. They used the money given to them by the government to make an affordable and accessible electric vehicle to make expensive cars that are viewed as a class symbol.
Brilliant, by the way. They absolutely made EVs more palatable, and you can't hate the player, you gotta hate the game.
But they used the opportunity to make their brand worth something. They're not as technically innovative as you think.
I would suggest reviewing the advances Tesla made on their motors, then look at the advances they made in casting the front and rear of the Model Y (largest cast system in the world), the advances they made in the battery (8840, LFP and upcoming Lithium Sulfur) and the AutoDrive.
The Motor is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esUb7Zy5Oio which is completely unique to Tesla
Then to upscaled that, with Carbon Fiber, to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3ZTe8p1AEw
When you are up to ~1 Million Model Y's on the road worldwide, scaling to producing 1 Million Model Y/year, plus CyberTruck, plus Model S, plus Model 3 and additional products - you are a wee bit beyond US Gov't subsidies.
The new bicycle is amazing, as well.
