I'm obviously concerned about this but data in a vacuum isn't very helpful. Do we have numbers of how often this happens in a normal year? Like 1064 athletes who have collapsed and the 667 who have died (I rounded up one). Shocking number, but what is that number normally for perspective?

So it's pretty common for one person to die then. Was there just one death in this one?
One thing I would point out is that it's pretty common for a small number of people to die at a small number of races each year. If that starts to go up, it might be worth looking at. But for now, I'm inclined to agree with you that there isn't much to go on from these numbers.
Yeah. I'm totally open to the idea that people are dying from this thing. In my entire life I don't recall healthy professional athletes and college athletes dying very regularly from heart attacks, etc. But admittedly I don't know the actual statistics so before I blow the horn on this thing I'd like something tangible to point to, that's all.
