They have dead mans switches, and it's probably restricted air space. Russia is something like 40 years behind the U.S. and NATO in terms of aviation. I wish it were that easy though.
I spent a 40-year career in defense and space engineering, keeping close attention to developments by the Soviets / Russians. I do not agree with your assessment. You would be dangerously surprised to rely on it.
