Too many fragile egos walking around with masks, fully vaxxed and boosted. They wouldn't be able to handle the truth because it would destroy the image they have of themselves being virtuous in the face of a pandemic. An event that allowed them to formulate a projected image of being educated, aware, socially advanced, and fully compliant with the most knowledgeable of sources like Dr. Fauci, NYT, CNN, etc. The entire facade would need to be ripped from them exposing them as ignorant, foolish, gullible, pliable and incapable of critical thought and analysis. In other words exactly what schools are matriculating today, non-educated idiots. The hysterical part is they are viewed that way my the majority of people already and just don't know it.

Before they can accept a red pill, they have to acknowledge that one exists. That would require intellectual curiosity and the ability to see beyond the headlines and a willingness to challenge the official narrative. These are abilities they simply don't possess. Thus, in many ways they are doomed. They will need to cluster with like-minded egos and live in a bubble hard enough to create their much needed echo chamber telling them they are right when the world can see the opposite. Too bad.
