Hi, I have ordered some dry special cat food ahead but really hard to know how much to get so I am wondering about other solutions people are finding for feeding the pets if the shipping issues continue?

Just buy as much as you can afford. At least five bags, I don’t know how many cats you have but I know that will last a really long time. I was pet sitting for my family and Hawaii, and they have five cats, a bag of cat food last in a really long time.
The other day I saw a cat grab a pocket gopher and haul it off to eat. If it is a country cat it will do fine.
Yes, thanks everyone for ideas. Watering down over time seems doable. I had thought about the chicken and rice. have lots of that...and letting them hunt, but difficult here in the very rural forest with bears, bobcats, eagles, badgers...even some pretty mean turkeys....the hunters could very easily become the hunted. I think I am 3 22 pound bags ahead now, and each bag seems to last somewhere between 6-8 weeks. but of course, their needs also need to be balanced with people needs and available finances while on fixed income.
There will be plenty of vaxxed meat they can eat before long.
When it gets down to it, our dogs can do rice/canned chicken/canned veggies. Lots of people do that already.
There has been an issue with the wet catfood for a while now. The shelves are bare. I have to order online or through chewy unfortunately. I would stock up now if you can. Alot of those pet foods contain fetal cells. Sick individuals.
Yes, thank you. I know that. Our cats have the dry food/to avoid urinary blockages. But my brother has complained for a long time about the missing wet cat food. My question was if people have thought of any other solutions when shipping becomes a no go.
I know, I just added the additional info. I am in the same boat. I just checked my health food store. Sometimes they have stuff but nothing. This subject has been brought up here before. My cats are finicky I don't think they would eat tuna or anything. Goodluck.
I realized I spent lots of money on dog treats so started making my own. $3 of chix livers make lots of treats and he runs to the fridge 1st in the morning. Made sweet potato and apple cookies, today making peanut butter and banana oatmeal cookies. Found all on Pinterest.
Weaning my dog off dog foods (1 died of mast cell tumors per vet from GMOs in dry dog food). Making my own without salt or spices, esp they love the veggies in meat sauce.
All this MUCH cheaper, healthier.
Sounds like you are a great and thoughtful pet lover!
I know what you mean...had a cat go blind due to lack of taurine in Meow Mix...the vet said they had tried to tell manufacturer for years...
Let them eat mice.
