He was admitted for overnight observation after going to the ER with severe stomach pains. CT scan showed the tip of his appendix is slightly inflamed, liver is inflamed, liver enzymes are 8x normal, and bilirubin is 1.3 instead of 1. Doctor said possibly the hepatitis that’s been going around in children. My son is 7, and has not been vaccinated. He had COVID around Christmas, but I’m not sure if that matters at all. He’s not in pain now, just tired. Hopefully it’s nothing and his numbers go down by the morning.

Thank you all so much for your prayers! He’s home now! His stomach pain was completely unrelated to his elevated liver enzymes. They tested his numbers this morning and they came down quite a bit. He was negative for hep A, B, and C. Also negative for adenovirus. He did test positive for rhinovirus, which is literally just the common cold. Doctors don’t quite have an answer, but basically if he never had the stomach pain, he wouldn’t have gone to the hospital and nobody would have been the wiser that his enzymes were elevated. He seems completely fine at this point. It sounded like they were going to keep him another day until the gastroenterologist came in and said he could go, but they want one more round of blood work later this week to make sure his numbers continue going down.
