14 Having drilled water wells in the late 70s, I learned that you can actually pour more water down a well than you can pump out. But why would you want to pour more water/oil than what you can pump out?
Underground storage is cheap. It is done with water all the time. Water is pumped into the underground aquafer to recharge the aquafer and then the water is pump out of the ground when it is needed.
