Just look at the end of the last ice age. In a flash, (literally) mastodons were reduced to modern elephants, giant sloths, bears, beavers, sabretooths and others shrunk by 50% to 90%, and surviving humans came out of caves. Solar micro-nova and related earth magnetic excursion. How did such an ELE change DNA over night?
