That's how fake news does it. If someone vaccinated dies, they blame it on covid and say they are unvaccinated as they probably died before the 7 day period that has to pass before being considered vaccinated

That makes sense, i think what confused me is the obit, aren't they sent in by the deceased's loved ones?

Not necessarily. Newspapers often times create obituaries for people.

obituary ə(ʊ)ˈbɪtʃʊəri noun a notice of a death, especially in a newspaper, typically including a brief biography of the deceased person.
