My Dad raises cattle. It was over 100 real feel yesterday and not one died. He has never lost any cattle to heat. Something else happened. I have to assume it was something in their feed. There are poisonous plants but it looks like they're only eating what the farmer gives them.
To the person who said it looks like bloat -- no, it is just what happens after they die in the heat. Ever single one looks like that after a while.
My theory (and others), is these cows bloated due to the grain being either contaminated, or they were fed too much. If it’s 100° then there will definitely be a lot of risk for bloat, and if the feed was moldy it’s a death sentence.
