Never heard the word derechos.... The Pictures of what they called derechos, I have seen Many Times in the cloud formations out in West Texas while growing up. Nothing New, just may not be common every where.......

I grew up and have spent my life in the Midwest and never heard of derechos in this area, but in the past couple years there was one in Ohio and another, I think, in Indiana.
