You're right about sodium fluoride being water soluble, but you're wrong if you believe that means it's not a dangerous industrial byproduct.

Additionally, your body will neutralize fluorine with calcium. Calcium deposits in soft tissues leads to neurological disorders as well as increased risk of heart attack and stroke.

I think we are in agreement. The Fluoride anion is bad news either way, whether it comes with sodium or some other cation.
