I believe Washington would have spoken directly with the troops with reason, logic, openness to imput, humility, and absolute truth, and all I am asking for is the same from anyone who wishes to call themselves a leader of anything.

A Jefferson quote comes to mind. Something about questioning the very existence of God for God would prefer honest questioning to blind faith.
