I was in a Nike store this weekend. I heard a part-time employee say:
Guy: "Man...I'm only here for 25 hours. That barely pays for gas. If gas gets any higher, it wont even be worth it to come in. I'll just quit."
Me: "People gonna flip shit if they can't get to work to pay their bills."
Guy: "Hell yea we are!"
People in the back nod.
I don't travel very far for work, so I never thought how hard inflation is hitting people who travel across town, let alone people who don't get much above minimum wage.
The powder keg leans forward a little further...stock up!
I was mad when I lost my job for not getting vaxxed, best thing that’s ever happened. They want me back now, LOL. Get fucked.
My first question, if that situation applied, would be to ask how much they were willing to compensate for the time lost and all.
Even though I'm casually job hunting, I'm even avoiding jobs with companies that HAD a vaccine mandate (exception being if the posting is a really exciting prospect but even there rests the expectation that things will flip back) because they've shown what they think of their employees.
Nah, it ended up being the ass kick I needed. Never going back.
That's the other half and understand completely. I would have a difficult time going back to a company that was so easy to toss people to the side.
