I am rejoicing over these steps to overturn abortion, but i know some of the rage directed at us will come from guilt and grief reinforced by this ruling. Maybe some here feel that pain too.
When roe vs wade came about the world was very different. Women's rights, civil rights, war and rapid societal changes, mixed in with shame and fear from unwed pregnancies, anger from parents, judgmental Christians, etc.
Most of the judgment landed on the women and the girls. Back then most unwed pregnancies, rape and/or incest was considered the girl's fault and most was hidden as a shameful secret.
There werent the 3d pictures of babies and you didnt hear about the sale of baby body parts. What you couldnt see or feel, didnt seem real, yet the guilt remained.
I am not sorry it was overturned. But i do have understanding of the pain and the rage some might feel.
At this point in time we know much more and have many more choices. And by now after years of broken homes and single parenthood and children lost to poverty, crime and drugs it should be obvious that better choices need to be made, and killing babies is not one of them.
Excellent post, OP.
