Ah yes, good old Rammstein... heavy industrial nihilistic Euro trash Rammstein. Always did love those heavy beats. "Engel" was a was an interesting departure from what we think of as "rock."

Note the black-eyed children.... hmmmm...
Then there's "Ich Will"... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOnSh3QlpbQ
The West has seen this kind of nihilism before....most notably before the outbreak of WWI and then WWII.
I think you're reaching a bit. More likely they're recalling history as they are students of it. "Deutschland" is an interesting take on how Germans feel about their own history.
Could be, but if one pays attention to the culture, you can't miss the steady decline in the arts. Art imitates life, and sometimes life imitates art. The grotesque things I see saturating the culture of the West today is very disheartening. Ugliness and coarseness is now celebrated.
A Pride March anywhere in the West is an exercise in obscenity and excess.
"Education" is now mere indoctrination. Diplomas are meaningless, they only certify that "this person has made it through four years of intense indoctrination and is a reliable, obedient dunce with no powers of critical thinking."
Anyway, I digress. Rammstein is just part of a much larger picture of cultural rot, IMHO.
