Was just watching a Daily Dose of Internet and saw a self-driving cargo truck that was "just authorized by the US government to operate on roads".

I always thought these self-driving trucks were bad because they destroy jobs and are likely dangerous.
My first thought when I saw this in the video was, "There's no way people will accept the dangers of this and the jobs it destroys".
But there's been the supply chain problems that would make self-driving trucks more palatable to people, accepting it as the lesser of 2 evils.
Which might just be the entire reason behind the supply chain crisis in the first place, to create justification for self-driving cargo vehicles?
3083 These people are sick & evil. It is not a COINCIDENCE. It never is.
There is a delivery problem…. You don't see it unless you do it every day. Cost of moving product went up before fuel. Driver shortage is as real as Pilot. shortage.
Are your delivery's moving at the same rate (transit time) as before? LTL.. The 3 major small packs slacking a bit as well. Maybe its just my sector. Supply is there the process has slowed.
You think hundreds of thousands of truck drivers not being able to deliver because there's no supply isn't a delivery problem?
So these truck drivers will just sit on their thumbs, receiving the same pay and able to continue their vocation indefinitely, even if there's nothing to deliver?
Hundreds of thousands of drivers being laid off or quitting isn't a delivery problem?
I'm not assuming I know. But common sense dictates to me that if there's a shortage of supply (even temporary) that will result in a reduction in truckers who make deliveries. These truckers will move on and then at some future time when supply is fixed, the truckers won't automatically be there because they will have moved on.
If delivery went from 6-8 weeks down to 24-26 weeks, then by my math 3/4ths of the truckers have been made obsolete.
Which fits into the theme of making room for self-driving cargo trucks.
When the supply chain is fixed, self-driving trucks may very well be called in to replace the 3/4ths of truckers who won't be called back and have moved on to other jobs.
