"Friday morning Jamie and I woke to the amazing news that Roe-v-Wade had been overturned! Overturning Roe-v-Wade does not ban abortion. It simply says that there is no constitutional right to abort a child. As such, it has returned the decision to the states. This is one of the greatest moral issues of our time, and the original Roe-v-Wade decision essentially muted our social discussion by short-circuiting it. I hope that by overturning Roe-v-Wade and returning this decision to the people, we can get past all the rhetoric and hyperbole and have a thoughtful, rational discussion on this issue. What does overturning Roe-v-Wade change in Oregon? Nothing. Oregon has the least restrictive abortion laws in the country. In Oregon, it is legal to abort a child at any time through nine months of pregnancy, even up until the moment of birth. This is an extreme law, matched by only 5 other countries in the world (Canada, China, North Korea, Vietnam, and South Korea.) The vast majority of European countries do not allow abortion after 15 weeks. The majority of Oregonians do not want what we have today, which is unrestricted, 'on demand' abortion. They view abortion negatively and believe abortion should be avoided. They support limits on abortion later in pregnancy. And they also do not want taxpayer funding of abortion. I am Pro-Life. Science and reason demonstrate that abortion is the taking of an innocent human life. I will work to put sensible limits on abortions in Oregon. I will work to end taxpayer funding of abortions, and end funding of abortions for out-of-staters. And I will work to support new moms and dads on their parenting journey, and for more adoption opportunities. These are all areas where pro-choice and pro-life alike can find common ground. I know this because I've spoken to pro-choice people about this issue. This does not go as far as I would like. But it is a huge step in the right direction. We need to understand that a large majority of Oregonians still favor limited access to abortions. We need to show compassion for the mom in addition to the child. WE NEED TO CHANGE HEARTS AND MINDS. That requires open dialog, an understanding of all perspectives, and an honest understanding of abortion. To that end, I will support a campaign to educate Oregonians on the truth about abortion - the history of the movement, the specifics of the procedures, and the science behind human development. Sharing the truth about abortion is key to limiting abortion in Oregon."

He sounds solid, at least on that one issue, but I don't know anything else about him. I'm not in his district, either.
Oregon will never become politically sane again until in-person, one-day voting with a solid ID becomes law, and that means the 100% mail-in voting scheme Oregon has suffered under for twenty years must get trashed for a start.
Article 4, Section 4 of the constitution requires the federal government to ensure a republican form of government to citizens in every state -- i.e., government officials elected by the citizenry, which would mean NOT chosen in secret by some cabal and then fraudulently declared the winners.
republic | rəˈpəblik |
noun
a state in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives, and which has an elected or nominated president rather than a monarch.
White Hats: I hope that's on the agenda.
