It has happened before where survivors had to eat others (yuck). Donnor Party was a tragedy. IIRC there was a jet crash on a mountain... Ordinary hungry people. Imagine what happens when if the people who are burning food factories, and destroying crops were to have food when their victims do not...

There is a LONG way to go before that happens. During WWII everyone started growing their own gardens to help feed their kids. You can grow enough food to feed a family of four for a year in just 16 square feet.
