A few days ago someone acting as a Sri Lankan and a Patriot said a posted video showing Sri Lankans attacking politicians was old, and not reflecting the truth. Be careful who shows up here posing. Just becuase they write WWG1WGA doesn't mean they are what they say. Because from local journos there, that May video was quite reflective of July Sri Lanka. As it turns out.
Well, that was me. And no I'm not acting; I am a Sri Lankan. If you're suspicious, that's alright, and being cautious is what you should be doing here. If my English skills are what makes you suspicious; I wasn't raised in SL, I returned here after my father divorced with my mother, I haven't left since.
I did say the video is old. I said it was inaccurate because it was:
Old, and at the start of the protests.
Was a police officer and not a politician/wealthy person.
I specifically pointed out that the uniform was the same khaki one we used since the British left the country. And that the reason he was being chased away was because he tried to push around protestors (people hate the police here but tend to bend over, even begrudgingly). Idiot thought the usual shouting would work, got beat down.
I'm sorry for your country. But from what my sources told me, the mood on the streets was exactly the same as if that old video showed people going after polticians. Which they started doing about a day after.
I am happy you are in a position to get your family thru the mess, most there are not.
My comment was that the video didn't reflect the title it was given (i.e. that the person being chased was a wealthy person).
You're sources are right that politicians are getting clobbered. But people aren't going out of their way to clobber them. Politicians either go to "have solidarity" with the protesters and get chased away., or kick the hornet's nest and get their residences torched (suspicious anyway considering we're in a fuel shortage, why spend your hard earned fuel you spent days in the queue just to use it to torch a person's house?).
People are getting robbed (mostly homes because our people tend to keep doors open when they're home), but no one is going WWZ and attacking every wealthy person on the street (yet) as that tweet insinuated.
I am happy you are in a position to get your family thru the mess, most there are not.
We've been helping in anyway that we can since the Covid scam started. We'll keep doing so until the situation improves or we go down with the ship.
In any case, all that is coming here to the US.
I can only pray in this instance. God bless your people and may you (inevitably) get your country back.
If you've done this elsewhere, forgive me for the suggestion, but it would be helpful to all if you could post a summary of the issues at stake in Sri Lanka and how the current situation came to be. I have been getting news glimpses (typical), but no understanding.

Cool :)
But to re-iterate:
