There was some ammunition neatly arranged on the windowsill of the Schoolbook Repository that day however, it did not fit the rifle they later found in that room.
An FBI man was asked if Oswald's fingerprints were on the rifle. Said FBI man took the rifle to the morgue where Oswald was being kept and when he returned he affirmed that Oswald's thumbprint was on the rifle.
Just a thought, but if you wanted to shoot at a target, would you want to fire as the target was travelling almost directly towards you or would you wait until you had to lean right out of the window so you could point your rifle to the right while the target was travelling across your line of sight?
That thought is something that has stuck with me for years. He had a totally clear and easy shot when the Kennedy motorcade was coming directly toward the TSBD, but he waited until the car was moving away, going downhill, exiting the area? It makes no sense and greatly decreased the odds of a hit.
However, the other shooters who were in the building to the left of the TSBD had a clear shot as did the man hiding in the drain just where the driver slowed the car right down. Allegedly!
See the following link below for a review of the evidence about the shells and finger prints.
It states that there was a deep mark on one shell that ment it could not have been fired and it was shown as only possible to create this mark if a shell had been the last shell in a magazine and it was not there was one bullet still in the rifle found -
On the finger prints the FBI investigator says it was not possible to find any prints and he saw no evidence that prints had been tested for before he received the rifle - listen to

The chain of custody for the shells is nonexistent
Lt. Day testified that the shell was marked by someone who was not at the crime scene
According to the WC, the shells were discovered by Deputy Sheriff Luke Mooney
Day did not mark the shells at the scene of the crime even though they were in his possession
He placed these unmarked shells into an unsealed envelope
Under these circumstances, how could Day swear under oath that the shells being presented in evidence
against Oswald were the same ones allegedly found in the aftermath of the president’s murder?
The shells would never have been admitted into evidence in a trial against Oswald
