I’ve heard some folks claim to be Christian zionists. What does that mean exactly?

Israel here meaning Jacob and his descendants (which are White Europeans and White European Americans), not Israel the modern nation-state (which is populated by Edomites/Canaanites).

Part of the challenge in understanding it is understanding what is meant by Israel in Romans 11:26. Paul already established that not all Israelites will be saved (the idea of a remnant).

Romans 9:6 (ESV) But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel,

The future/eschatalogical view would mean that all of a single generation of Israelites at a certain future point in time “will be saved”. Then that excludes the overwhelming majority of Israel that isn’t alive in that saved generation.

The good news of the passage is God’s grace!

Romans 11:23 (ESV) And even they, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God has the power to graft them in again.
