It's actually more symbolic of the church's role with Jesus. We are to be his bride, and to follow him - so the example is set for us here on earth now.
It certainly doesn't anger God if your wife is better at raising the kids or doing the accounting/finances in your home. You were both made for each other, helpers for one another, the ying to their yang. You might spend 60-80 hours a week working to provide while she runs the home (which was common in households going back millenia) - there is nothing wrong with it.
I agree, I know lots of people in such situations. However if the children are going hungry then God expects the man to provide.
100% And the lack of men and men's roles in their families lives is costing our country greatly, everyday. It's the sort of thing where I think about my own faults concerning this, and try to do more and be more available. It is easy to 'check-out' with all of life's distractions (entertainment/work/news/friends/activities).
Many of you reading these posts ARE doing what you should be, and maybe wonder if it makes a difference. If you are only inspiring other men to also be good husbands and fathers, I'd say you are doing a great service to more than you realize and that doesn't even count the effect on your families' lives and wellbeing.
