My day has been unlike many I have ever had in my life. I went to bed last night after covering a ground bee hole with dirt surrounded by large stones. When I woke up, a stone was overturned (bees did not do it, nor my kids and I doubt my cat did) no logical explanation. I got to work and things have just been crazy since. It just feels really off and all I can think of is the scary large Full Moon back on Wednesday and CERN. Anyone else having a rather odd day?

Bees are in decline and the full moon is beautiful. Why be afraid?
Yellow jackets don’t pollinate
Children - otherwise I would t have bothered them.
Teach them respect for bees please.
There’s a huge difference between yellow jackets, wasps, and bees.
Yellow jackets live in the ground, they do not pollinate, they pretty much hang out just to sting you. Same with wasps
Bees on the other hand actually have a function, they pollinate plants, keep the echoystem going, and also make honey, which is an anti-microbial an antibacterial substance. If sealed in a jar, could actually last 1 million years.
Yellow jackets can be dangerous. A child that has never had a bee sting can die from stepping on a yellow jacket ground nest.
Even if they are inefficient pollinators they still do it and they do have a purpose other than stinging you.
"Populations of yellow jackets (a yellow-bodied social wasp) build up in summer and are considered beneficial insects that pollinate flowers and prey on grubs and beetles."
I surely will when they are old enough to understand.
I think it's best to teach understanding by example from the beginning, bee sting allergies perhaps being an exception. Point out the hole and let them know to walk around it or they could get a painful sting.
I'll never forget when that kid at my birthday party who intentionally threw a pine cone at a wasp nest and they came out and stung the shit out of him! He cried but I laughed at his stupidity.
but bees are going extinct, you could have maybe caged it off or something.
That's another lie, I have every kind of bee around my house and I am barely out of the city.
