If you have read the books, but can't provide an answer to my questions, how confident can I be that me reading the books will answer my questions?

I would say that you can't be confident at all. Because what you have is not a question. What you have is a clinging to a belief to help you evade certain truths that you cannot yet face. The better something answers your "question", the more you won't want to hear it.
