I see. I was under the assumption that there was an antenna circuit on the board that could be severed reducing the effective range without messing with the usefulness of the ecu. Thank you for your incite on the matter, despite how long it is between messages.

Yes we're moving the actual component does allow you to cancel the service and effectively eliminate their ability to communicate with you to do the things that OnStar does like order hotels and all of that stuff, but the ability to call emergency service is what is integrated into the ECU, there is no way to eliminate that. Also these instructions are for a very specific earlier model.
I see, this was the only reason I was confused. I was not aware that without that onstar unit, that the ecu could still communicate to outside wireless connections. All the more reason to say no to G(overnment)M(otors) products.
