Black smoke is probably the oil inside the transformer that blew. Since it is a power generation plant and not a local place to step down power; it was probably a bigger blow then what we see near were we live.
I was agreeing with the idea that a smallish event led to much larger consequences. However, point taken: there is much to investigate about the squiffy explanations for 9/11.

The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation stated that around 10 a.m. local time, a transformer at the dam caught fire and was extinguished a half hour later.
