For all who may use mylar bags to store food in, Amazon will not sell them after early August. Heads up, preppers.
📦 Long-term Prep 📝
Their "reasoning" is because of drug dealers use the mylar bags and they block odors and aromas of what's inside, making it easier to smuggle.
We know it's to control preppers and what they do for themselves.
https://youtu.be/a-1RRzcXMdQ That isn't the video we watched, and I haven't watched it yet, but it looks like it will happen.
So I just read the rule written by amazon: Due to regulatory requirements, all Mylar bags that are not clear or single-colored must be removed from the Amazon store by August 5, 2022.
I did more of a dive, they're only removing patterned ones and multi-color ones that are under a certain size, 1 Gal. Then I looked up the regulation because I thought it was stupid, it's from a 2018 Trump EO on drug enforcement. Sellers had 4 years to comply and give customers alternatives. I'd never heard of such a long standing comply period, so I looked that up and apparently when it comes to sellers who make over a certain amount, they have a longer time frame, Amazon appealed 5 times and eventually Biden's regulatory douchebag forced the removal of these types of bags.
Thank you for actually looking into this. I use aluminized ones for food to keep light out as well as oxygen. Never saw anything about this before.
Yeah, I use a ton for storage and for repackaging the foods I sell. I got this notice about a dozen times from Amazon.
The little clear ones are good for rounding up loose hardware as they are tougher than ziplocs.
Totally agree, now you can't buy rainbow ones, only clear or solid colors.
