How Does An EMP Effect Batteries?
How Do We Know An EMP Will Destroy Electronics? Your Batteries Should Work Still Not Sure Your Batteries Will Survive? What About Your Solar Rechargeables? Keep Your Batteries Unplugged How To Test a Faraday Cage Making Sure Your Electronics Are Safe
An EMP can damage micro-circuitry. A typical lead-acid battery won't be damaged, however if you have fancy charging systems with circuit boards there could be a problem. All the crap made today with all the 'Smart Technology' is at risk. Appliances, automobiles, smart phones, computers, etc.
Mostg lithium ion batteries have voltage controllers that would be fried. Did a write up on this before, a nuclear EMP airburst 150 miles (distance could be wrong) over the US would knockout the whole country. In my belief, an EMP is the USAs biggest threat, you could blame it on a solar flare and watch the US tear itself apart..
When I worked for a water and power utility, we would always install our PLCs and UPSs in metal cabinets with surge protectors to shield them from EMPS. Many critical facilities are protected, nonetheless, there will by pain.
depends. chemical batteries unaffected. any sort of battery wirth a built in circuit board will likely be toast. so Li ion batteries ded.
You can tell this guy is highly educated and can be trusted on topics regarding technology. Too bad he doesn't know the difference between affect and effect!
I can spell, you are a dickhead.
I didn't say you couldn't. You spelled the wrong word correctly.
Intelligence & spelling aren't really related as closely as you think. I work for a highly intelligent man who became a millionaire working with quartz. He doesn't even know how to spell the word "nozzle". He spells it "nozzel", so your little jab at the poster doesn't hold water.
This isn't spelling though. It'd be more like he wanted the word nozzle and used the word noodle.
The world is falling apart and you're worried about crap like this. Good luck with that.
Look everyone! An anecdote in the wild!
Put a woman or a weak man on the spot, and they'll drop an anecdote to make their point faster than you can say... "But that's just one example out of millions!"
The world is falling apart and you're splitting hairs with crap like this. I feel kind of sorry for you.
