I know the written word Andy, the Spirit teaches me how to apply it. I fail sometimes, and my prayer is that Spirit teach me through my failures, so I can, "go and sin no more"
We learn God’s word through Spirit, and union with God. The written word can be veiled because Spirit has not yet opened it up to us, I trust only what Christ teaces me.
So how does someone else, besides you, receive the Spirit, other than hearing the words and believing them?
How does one get born again? I can't say when or how it happened to me, it was the Spirits doing, God drew me, reproved me, corrected me, and started teaching me, I imagine that's how it will go for others.
Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. That can be the written word, but mostly it's the word built up in a minister who brings a person to saving faith.
Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Prophets aren't hired, they're not a particular denomination, licensed they're God’s gift to the church, the can pop up anywhere, anytime, and their words can be missed anywhere, anytime by those who have not been prepared by God. God gives the birth, God does the raising, God doe not require a minister, but prefers to use them, flesh and blood, just as he did with the firstborn Son of God.
God Himself came in the flesh to give us this Word, to make positively sure that we received it. And you're telling me it means nothing? I search out and received the treasures of it every day along with that of the Spirit.
Matthew 4:4 KJV But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
It is written.
No Andy, I'm not telling you the scriptures mean nothing, God teaches us through them. They are also misread, misinterpreted, used by false prophets in our own doctrine. Do you think everything your denomination says about the scriptures is correct? How much error is in your denominations interpretation of scripture?
I embrace the scriptures, but realize I can be wrong about their interpretation. Doctrine is not supposed to be dead religion, the word of God is quick(alive) and powerful(spirit).
The Spirit of truth leads us into all truth.
The dragon, the beast, and the false prophet are all things in us, that Jesus Christ will conquer.
That is why we must try the spirits, the doctrine ruling our mind, is it denomoninatuonal doctrine or is it Jesus Christ our true king?
