H.R.6552, the Frederick Douglass Trafficking Victims Prevention and Protection Reauthorization Act of 2022 just went up for vote in Congress on Tuesday. It passed with all Democrats and all but 20 Republicans voting yae. Among the 20 who voted nay were Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz.
This doesn't make sense to me. If the bill does what the name suggests then why would they vote against it? Why would every democrat vote for it? There has to be something hidden here I am missing.
Can you guys help me find it?
The name of a bill is traditionally the opposite of what the contents of the bill actually does. It's been that way forever and they probably do it to laugh at us.
