H.R.6552, the Frederick Douglass Trafficking Victims Prevention and Protection Reauthorization Act of 2022 just went up for vote in Congress on Tuesday. It passed with all Democrats and all but 20 Republicans voting yae. Among the 20 who voted nay were Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz.
This doesn't make sense to me. If the bill does what the name suggests then why would they vote against it? Why would every democrat vote for it? There has to be something hidden here I am missing.
Can you guys help me find it?
Democrats very frequently give legislation very misleading names designed to evoke emotional reaction. They then add woke bullshit to the bill. This is a problem where we lack a requirement that bills be single-issue.
It is designed to bait republicans with a moral compass to vote "Nay" so they can use that as a political hit.
