What do you think the blackouts will entail? Will we just lose internet, cellphone and tv or will we lose power?

I’ve been pondering this for a while now. I’d love to hear what others think will be involved. Will we lose all power or just the ability to communicate or receive any outside info apart from the emergency broadcast system?

when one state is having problems, another is not.

I remember when Ohio caused the Northeast blackout of 2003. We were on our way to a band pot luck. It really got scary because we couldn't pick up any stations on the car radio. The first thing we all thought at the dinner was another terrorist attack. Was not pleasant being without power and no ac in the middle of August!

On August 14, 2003, a series of faults caused by tree branches touching power lines in Ohio, which were then complicated by human error, software issues, and equipment failures, led to the most widespread blackout in North American history.

I think there could be some accidentally-on-purpose 'oopsies' like this, where they could take down this much (or more), if they really wanted to.

I wasn’t aware of that. But also now that you know, people are preparing in advance. I live in Arizona, so I have contingency plans to make sure that if something like that happened in summer, I would not be without air-conditioning. If you’re on this forum, I am sure that you are already planning and prepping.
