I believe that's dent corn on the right but believe that's sweet corn on the left. I have no idea what immature dent corn looks like. Dent corn is raised for animal feed. Sweet corn is what we eat. I have no idea if that has any significance to corn comms.

I have family from the midwest, and this seems true. Sweet corn with butter and salt is delicious.
I could live all summer on corn (slathered with butter and salt) and tomatoes from the garden for breakfast, lunch and dinner. BTW, we usually get really good local corn this time of year. The corn this year has been horrible at every grocery store - old, and every minute past picking corn is losing sweetness, really small and not good at all. Also much more expensive. All the corn going to ethanol? Also, for some reason cabbage is hard to find and old and dried out. I know it's not quite cabbage season but this is unusual too.
