+1 from me brother.
No you are not. The call is to excellence, all that other stuff is just excuses, it is sin, it is to be dealt with between you and Jesus. I am a cocky little shit, but I'm not making excuse for sin. I'm not lying about you, but my reading comprehension is often a little below par, I'm not out to get you, I'm talking about perfection, it is my only love, it is what we are called to, anything less is an excuse. We can still be friends if you're not offended by me being me, and you being you. I love dismantling doctrine, the only doctrine I want is that of Jesus Christ and the Faith of Jesus Christ. Peace my brother.
If you really were simply misunderstanding me, then I apologize for getting short with you.
Understand, if someone can't even accept it when you tell them that they have your position wrong it throws up a big red flag that they might not be sincere.
If there is one thing in this world that I hate, it is intellectual dishonesty. Because of your zealous contentiousness, it seemed as though you were intentionally misrepresenting my position.
I was on the verge of blocking you, but I will hold off on that at least for now.
As for the issue of the discussion (if you can stand to listen to me for another moment) I would like to tell you a little bit about myself and why I cannot and will not ever accept your doctrine. I am not posting the following in order to argue with you any further, but only so that you understand why it is that I cannot be persuaded to your position. It is because I see it as contrary to the Gospel in Romans 10:9 in which we are promised this:
The gospel of salvation is not, as it were, a call to excellence; it is a call to faith. Salvation is believing in the Gospel of Christ only. Not the gospel + perfection, or any other thing.
Galatians 1:8-9
In my view, you are preaching a different gospel - the gospel of perfection. Not the gospel preached by Paul and the apostles.
You said that sin keeps me from being justified.
The gospel says that I am justified by faith in Jesus.
These are not the same gospel, and I cannot and will not entertain this doctrine under any circumstance.
I hope that you pray for wisdom and guidance from the Holy Spirit (which I have done also) because I feel that you might be towing a dangerous line.
All that being said, I do not wish for hostility between myself and you, and I am willing to accept that you were simply misunderstanding me before.
I get that you are passionate about the subject. I am personally passionate about logic and reasoning, critical thinking, exegesis, typology and biblical prophecy, as well as ancient languages and occult symbolism.
I am not interested in doctrine, my only goal is to discern what the truth is. I do not easily accept ideas from other people, and usually outright reject any position that I did not arrive at organically myself by my own logic and reasoning.
I do not usually snap at people, but I have a red line at intellectual dishonesty, as I have said. I don't care what a person believes, so long as they are candid. There are a great many liars in the world, and I don't have any patience for such. I attempted to be graceful towards you, a task which I obviously failed. Once again, I apologize.
Please accept this pepe as a token of my.. something or other. I lack social skills. u/#DancingPepe
It's all good brother.
The intent of scripture is to perfect you.
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
Notice scriptures intent is instruction in righteousness, that you may be perfect.
As far as being ministered to, the intent is also perfecting.
Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
A ministers job is to minister the word of God that perfects the saint.
Just getting saved is not the end goal of the gospel. Even the word "saved" is Greek sozo, to be made whole, complete, perfected.
It's not a different gospel, it is the teaching of scripture.
