For the good, the bad, and the ugly. I've lived in everything from commie block apartments, classic European style apartments to row house/pair house, cabins, village house and farms. They all have pros and cons considering price, freedom and living space. Here's an interesting chart and table: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urbanization_by_country over percentage of urban population by country.
Interestingly enough it's more than 75% by now, and America is at 82.7% urban population. Some of Europe is more urbanized, other parts is less urbanized. Ireland is 63.7% for instance, France 81%, Germany 77.5%, Switzerland 73.9%.
The urbanization is worldwide and in many cases it's by force, lot's of people who want to own a house or live in a rural area/village can't afford to do so and is forced to live in a apartment complex.
