No one would like an electric car more than me. But as I have always said, until there is something better than batteries supplying the power, they aren't going to break out of the urban niche market.
I'd be ok with a cheaper sodium based battery produced domestically. I live in an area that gets very good electric output from solar and if both technologies advance further I'd be very happy to be completely self sufficient when it comes to power. If I could have a home battery, electric car to buzz around in, and be off grid completely I'd be all for it. I'd still keep my truck, but self sufficiency appeals to me.

Everything is about the money. The 'electric' car will NEVER be anything more than a golf cart.
