If I sold a stock that I have held for a year tomorrow at open can I use that same cash to open an options play right after? I wasnt sure if there was a settlement period for this kind of trade. Using Fidelity.
Many thanks and forgive my stupidity

Hey haha well i got some 50c for jan 20...I was thinking to swing some puts today at 9.50 strike
I got my calls lined up with RC for the 20th but wanted to capitalize on any short attack today. The 8.50-9.50 puts for today are like 20 bucks a contract!
Good luck to you as well friend. I am 95% DRSd and zen til moass
Found out I couldnt trade options on the same day of expiration. Oh well, glad I didnt play with any puts!
I think you have to wait 1 year and 1 day to not get taxed as income.
Besides that, I know if I sold a stock, I can buy more with that money, I just can't sell it until the funds have settled or else I'd get a good faith violation. I've never done it with options, but I think it should be the same.
Why don’t you call Fidelity and ask them?
Id rather not speak to them...I got you guys!
