The original Sphinx was a Lion. It is Eastward facing and on the Spring Equinox 13,500 years ago stared directly at the Constellation Leo. At that time the Belt of Orion would have been directly overhead and aligned perfectly with the three pyramids of Giza. The Egyptian "headdress" resembles a King Cobra Snake. The snake is the symbol of healing and awakening. The Mayans called him Kukulcan. The Aztecs called him Quetzalcoatl. The snake plays a prominent role in Shamansim and ascension culture.
