I asked my reptile shop about it. In the summer. It's hard to transport. All the farms are back east and Midwest. We have zero farms I'm the southwest. He said anyone could make a killing by breeding to serve reptile shops in the southwest. I asked what it would take to get into doing a cricket farm and he answered in a 10th of a second. "A STRONG STOMACH!!" Apparently the smell of that operation is off the charts disgusting. Now put one in every city on the planet to meet the needs for human consumption. I smelled their 55 gallon can they stored them in at the shop and found myself in the heaviest fight of my life to not puke, barely prevailed, and when I looked at him with snot and tears rolling down my face, he said "That's only a few thousand at a time in there, now imagine 10's of millions" Long story for a simple fact. Cricket farms smell a million times worse than the worst shit you've ever smelled and the amount of breeding that would be needed to feed humans would be astronomical. It's just not sustainable. Kind of like everyone is required to buy an electric car but sun and wind will never have the capability to charge them. I'll shut up now.
