Good idea! My only question would be is how are they kept in the ground because if they are not weighed down, the water in the ground will pop them out. The one that you can fill in the middle with concrete might work. They are meant to be full and the food would probably do that. We’ve thought of concrete box culverts - the U shaped ones, joined together but I have no idea of their cost. https://www.rocla.com.au/products/box-culverts/ I’ve seen disastrous failures of containers being buried. And I like the idea but you need to strengthen them correctly. But I would love a bunker. 😀
Not as much as one might think, https://www.boxculvert.com/price/, but there would be the hassle of digging and placing it. Then the entrance has to be made. I think hempcrete blocks might be easier and more versatile for DIY.
You could put a pad down and bolt the culvert to that to anchor it. It you set it into the side of a hill then backfill, you could almost use any type of door - sliding for light, but we are talking security so unless you camouflaged it, it could be vulnerable. It would be like a hobbit home. 😀 I personally think a culvert would be ideal and you can stand up in them too. While atlas are great, only the wealthy can afford them.
It does look very sturdy. Not everyone has a hill, though. If it was for the average backyard, there would have to be steps down. This would be even sturdier, I think, although the rolling potential is worrisome. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qX7sAzB0HEE
