They physically can't keep up. Most of the time it's the 18-22 year olds thinking they will get a cute part time job and free drinks, and then they give up because it's actually hard work. I agree it's a good paying job for what it is, no one should be complaining about the pay. I'm just there now because I lost my job from not getting vaxed. I can't find a job in healthcare anymore in my area. I'll need to come across a based private practice to continue in my field. They (the baristas) are all just up in arms because of Ted Cruz's comment about them being slackers. It is a demanding job, especially now because we are always short staffed. But yeah, you shouldn't be expecting a handout because you decided on a bs major and can only find an entry level job now with that degree. I know that's what Cruz meant, but instead it just created this stupid digital war causing even more divide.
They literally can’t keep up with the multitasking. It’s like the mind/hand connection doesn’t work for some people when you need to be fast and accurate. I don’t even keep up most of the time during peek. We had 15 min wait time today and I literally thought I was about to get punched in the face by a customer because of that lol. Lol and did you copy and paste an old resume or something (I say this lightheartedly, you made me laugh). Like I get it. You worked hard. So do I. It would be like someone saying you just made candy all day. I don’t just pour coffee all day. I literally do all that you listed plus more and then get to clean blood and feces off the bathroom walls from people shooting up. I worked other service jobs while I was in school too. Even worked two my sophomore year. I get it’s nothing compared to other jobs like military, construction, ect. But I can say (at least from my store) this has been harder work than serving or retail (from my own personal experience). But I totally agree that some jobs you just need to move on. I would never want to do this long term. it’s not worth it and I’m trying to move on. I’m trying to find something in my field but it’s been impossible since I’m not vaxxed. Fun times.
Oh for sure. This isn’t a forever type of job. Those that go get ridiculous “degrees” then can only find a job in these type of settings have no right to be crying for tuition forgiveness. I would never want to be part of a Starbucks union. I took this job to get cash fast. People are just all worked up because of Ted Cruz calling baristas slackers. I get why they’re mad cause I am definitely not slacking. I would argue that I work harder than him each day (lol jk kind of). But I get what he actually meant, just a poor way of communicating on his part causing even more divide imo.
