An unintended consequence of this might be that feds be a little more cautious in FL.
The Flight Deck Officer Program to cut to the chase deputizes Commercial Airline Pilots to serve as Law Enforcement in the event of an Emergency while Airborne. Such as an attempted hijacking.
They usually aren’t considered Federal Agents or Air Marshals and their jurisdiction doesn’t usually extend beyond an aircraft. Though the program may have changed drastically since I last I bothered to look it up.
Wow, I skipped right over the FFDO part of this in my initial read-through.
They seriously sensationalized this headline (and I tried to de-sensationalize it!)
I wonder what substances this guy had in his system besides lots of alcohol, to cause this ending. The news media tends not to speculate about drug induced crimes, when it's not convenient to the neighborhood that it happened in. Regardless, it's still a tragic end to a night which could have easily have started out as a good time. (Not excusing his behavior)
