Stillbirth or stillborn means the “baby” is born dead, usually close to or at full term.
Miscarriages are when the baby or tissues are expelled because something is wrong; and can happen at anytime during a pregnancy. However, miscarriages usually occur during the first trimester, sometimes in the second trimester, and rarely in the third trimester.
I think stillbirth is they die right before or during labor. Miscarriage is when the body reads the pregnancy as “unviable” and rejects it. Almost all miscarriages happen because the embryo isn’t viable, nothing mom or dad can do :/
Stillborn can also be alive even through labor but born dead.
I learned alot from talking with doctors and reading up when I lost my first two pregnancies before my three now grown children. My first was a tubal pregnancy the second was what they called a spontaneous miscarriage where they die in the womb but fail to drop out. Mine weren’t stillborn but I know people who had them and it is heartbreaking!
