water vapor is a greenhouse gas countdown in 3...2...1
HUGE amount of information in graphs explaining how this somewhat unusual eruption has affected temperatures in the Southern Hemisphere, so far, how it spills over to the Northern Hemisphere, how the polar vortices work and affect the jet stream, how temperatures also affects pressure and hence storm formation and movement. This is why Australia had a cold winter and Europe will really be screwed without fossil fuel. Remember this is one eruption, in one year. It will contribute to short term (geologically speaking) weather. It isn't climate change, which is still due to the sun and the earth's position in orbit over very long periods. And it sure isn't due to a few planes flying around dropping anything. You can do the math on just how many planes it would take for a payload equivalent to the water which was ejected from this eruption. You could also do the math on the energy required to get that much water as high as it went, which besides the sheer volume is a factor in this massive cooling effect. They mention the effect of the sulfur which was also expelled only briefly. The ads are terrible, otherwise a very educational page.
That's goofy. It's winter down there, and in my experience cloudy winter days are warmer than clear ones.
