If you’re concerned about the hand placement in the speech - The MC ceremonial units i.e silent drill team and band don’t necessary follow standard fleet protocol. So they probably were ordered to stand way to look more casual because xiden/his handlers wanted them in the speech but they knew it wasn’t cool to be used as props. I think it is a subtle sign of disrespect. I’ve had a lot of conversations with buddies who were also marines and my dad who was an officer and the consensus is shared.
Also, and this is the funniest thing I’ve heard ina while- my grandma who is visiting said they’re clasping their hands in prayer, thanking God they’re not in the Army. She’s pretty witty even though she is a lifelong dem.
