Hollywood started pushing the idea that 9 and 10 yr old boys should have girlfriends a few decades ago. Although hormones from various sources ARE causing girls to start puberty earlier than 50 or 60 years ago, probably the opposite is occurring with boys. There is no biological cause for boys so young to have a sexual interest in girls.
