Last time I talked to him was about 12 years ago. Probably have his email. He works in small town / rural area, so might not be as relevant as an urban area. It was a dying business (his joke, not mine), because of the aging / declining population.

I would have thought engineer to mortician / funeral home director would be a tough transition. But he grew up with it, he liked being out of the big city, and being his own boss was huge. There is a surprising amount of technology involved, if you count the chemicals and equipment required.

He described the whole process of embalming, and what takes place, which was quite fascinating. Didn't make me want to see it in action, but I enjoyed learning about it.
